The Mars Volta @ Ancienne Belgique Brussels, 26-06-2012
Just to start this short post, it was a very good show.
Great atmosphere at the AB, great sound, (this really is a good venue for concerts) + the Mars Volta sounded more solid then ever. Cedric’s voice was great. The mix of electronic samples + guitar + crazy drum parts works perfectly live. They played almost the their entire ‘Noctourniquet’ album. But like we know the Mars Volta, still enough of jamming-parts. Live you also notice the spanish and latino influences this band has.
One of the strongest moments of the show was, in my opinion, The Malkin Jewel. It was just crazy to see the whole crowd feeling it and ‘dancing’ at this song. Deantoni Parks’ drum parts bring a nice vibe to the whole album. Live he brings the drumming, for me as a drummer, to a next level. I advice anyone who reads this to go see The Mars Volta live during this tour. It’s a new but very interesting experience.
